20 Years of Beautiful Connection with BCNA

20 Years of Beautiful Connection with BCNA

For 20 years, Sussan has proudly partnered with Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) to ensure every Australian diagnosed with breast cancer receives the care and support she deserves.

Together with our customers, we have contributed more than $3.3 million to BCNA’s vital initiatives.

But our partnership is about more than just fundraising. It's about amplifying national awareness, increasing access to vital services and building a strong network of care and connection that reaches women in communities nationwide.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re taking a moment to reflect on two decades of impact and the beautiful connections that have made it possible.

Growing Together: Reaching More Women in More Ways

For 20 years, our partnership has helped BCNA grow its presence, expand its reach, and strengthen its connection to communities across Australia.
Since 2005, in-store campaigns and BCNA products have helped raise BCNA’s national profile—ensuring women diagnosed with breast cancer know where to turn for support.
As the partnership grew, so did its reach.

From 2006 to 2015, the Sussan Women’s Fun Run brought thousands of women together to walk, run, and raise funds in solidarity. And through the unforgettable Field of Women events, we stood side by side with over 40,000 Australians in Melbourne and Sydney, creating one of the most powerful visual tributes to those affected by breast cancer.

Together, we’ve supported more than 300 BCNA Community Liaisons across Australia, ensuring there’s always a local connection for women who need it most. We have also helped BCNA deliver tailored, trusted, and timely information through My Journey— a personalised digital platform now used by more than 18,000 Australians for 24/7, evidence-based support.

Driving Change: Advocacy, Access & Action

From life-changing digital tools to policy-shifting reports, our partnership with BCNA has helped shape the way breast cancer is understood, treated and supported.

In 2018, we helped fund BCNA’s landmark State of the Nation report — the most comprehensive review of breast cancer care in Australia. Its findings led to five national policy changes that improved access to treatment and support. Through the Seat at the Table program, we’ve supported more than 80 women with lived experience to become trained advocates, giving them the confidence and tools to speak directly to decision-makers. And with the Work & Breast Cancer Hub, more than 30,000 Australians have received vital guidance on managing breast cancer in the workplace.

Championing Equity in Care

Support should never depend on postcode, identity, or diagnosis. That’s why our partnership with BCNA has always focused on making sure no one is left behind. We are proud to support BCNA’s ongoing efforts to close the gap in cancer outcomes for First Nations Australians, while also funding resources in five different languages so that women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds can access the support they need.

Through BCNA’s lived experience reference groups, women from rural and regional areas, members of the LGBTIQ+ community, and others navigating unique challenges have been given a platform to shape care and advocacy. At the same time, we’ve worked to reduce stigma by supporting Australia’s first male breast cancer exhibition.

And because every journey is different, we’ve championed tailored support for young women and helped deliver Hope & Hurdles. This program has already reached more than 7,000 women living with metastatic breast cancer, ensuring they feel seen, supported, and never alone.

Real Stories, Real Connection

At the heart of our partnership are the women themselves. Their stories have inspired everything we do. From supporting Upfront About Breast Cancer — a podcast led by clinical psychologist Dr Charlotte Tottman, now with over 124,000 listens — to funding webcasts, forums, and even donating 1,000 pairs of Australian Cotton pyjamas to women attending BCNA’s community events, our focus has always been on creating meaningful moments of comfort and connection.
Through our Sussan WOMENKindness Hub, we’ve shared these stories widely, celebrating the resilience, care, and spirit of women who remind us why this partnership matters.
