From Field to Fashion: Notes from Camp Cotton
Understanding where our fibres begin is an important part of creating products with care. That's why Sussan’s marketing team recently joined more than 50 delegates from across the global cotton industry for Camp Cotton 2026.
Held by Cotton Australia, Camp Cotton brings together growers, researchers, suppliers, brands and retailers for an immersive look at the Australian cotton industry. Following the Australian Cotton Forum in Sydney, delegates travelled through Narrabri, Breeza and Wee Waa in north-west New South Wales, visiting cotton farms, research facilities and cotton gins to see the journey from field to fibre firsthand.
The experience offered valuable insight into the innovation shaping Australian Cotton today, from precision farming and water management to biodiversity initiatives and ongoing research.
One of the team’s biggest takeaways was gaining a deeper understanding of water management across the industry.
"Water usage is often misunderstood. What I learned is that water is highly regulated, carefully monitored and incredibly valued by growers."
We were equally inspired by the collaborative spirit shared across the industry.
