Only for Women Series – Q&As with women we admire

We talk to the women who inspire us daily about the power of supporting each other.

Where do you find your motivation or inspiration?
I find my motivation and inspiration from the thousands of women that I meet every year. They are women that have faced the fact that they could lose their life to breast cancer and so they teach me to be in the moment and love the things that are most important in life, which is family and friends.

Describe the power of women supporting each other in business/life?
I have the great pleasure of seeing women support women all around Australia through a breast cancer experience. I know that this support can make all the difference in the way a woman can feel after a breast cancer diagnosis.

What women inspire you?
There are many women who inspire me, our BCNA founder Lyn Swinburne is certainly one. Generally, the women that inspire me are those that use their voice and speak up to really make a difference.

What has been some of the most memorable advice you’ve been given?
I have been given many memorable pieces of advice from the women I represent and I think the most important message is to really live in the moment.

What would you tell your younger self today?
I would definitely tell my younger self that everything is going to be okay and you’ve got to stay true to yourself and be authentic because that is what makes connections in the world. It is so important to trust your instincts. I think if you feel something wrong in your stomach, it’s generally wrong.

How would you end this sentence “I make life happen by ….”?
…being true to myself and living in the moment.

Where do you find your motivation or inspiration?
Everywhere, every day, in the most unexpected spaces. I tend to always look outside and beyond whatever industry I am working in. I travel a lot and try to get off the beaten track to far flung back streets. Inspiration is everywhere.

Describe the power of women supporting each other in business/life?
It’s extraordinary. In the six years of having Collective Hub (and the total of over 17 years in having my own businesses) I have collaborated with so many extraordinary women. When we lift each other higher and support each other, absolutely anything is possible.

What women inspire you?
So many! We’ve interviewed over 6000 people traversing different industries, geographic locations, race and gender, any of them women. I find that people who are willing to just start, follow their passions, be courageous inspire me the most.

What has been some of the most memorable advice you’ve been given?
Fail fast. I think this is the thing – detach from outcome, surrender and just have a go. Be unafraid to fail. But just do it fast…. and learn.

What would you tell your younger self today?
Anything, and I mean truly anything is possible.

How important is it to trust your instincts?
It’s almost the most imperative thing. I go 95% on a well-honed gut. 5% on fact. My gut has never ever EVER let me down.

How would you end this sentence “I make life happen by ….”?
…believing in myself wholeheartedly and hustling my butt off every single day.

What’s your “why”? Why do you do what you do?
To be an entrepreneur for entrepreneurs living my life out loud showing that anything is possible. I want to ignite human potential in everything I do and live my best life always.
